For the press

Amsterdam Underground press kit

The text on this page may be reused, cut down and rewritten: no need to ask, and nothing to send back. The images come with one condition. They contain map data made by other people — OpenStreetMap and the 3D BAG from TU Delft — and those licences require a credit. The three lines to print are ready for you at the bottom of this page.

In Amsterdam Underground you can look up your own street and drive down it.

Who makes it

The game is published under the name Urban Gamez. Behind that is one maker, in Amsterdam, doing this alongside an installation business and having done all of it: the map, the driving, the drawings, the text, the sound and this page. No studio, no team, no investor.

The name of the maker as it may be printed, and the phone number for press enquiries, are in the signature of the press mail. If you do not have it, ask for them at helpdesk@urbangamez.com. They are not on this page, so that no old number is left lying around.

What the game is, in three lines

Amsterdam Underground is a top-down game set on the real map of Amsterdam inside the ring road. Its 14,670 buildings, 2,843 street sections, canals, bridges and tram tracks sit where they sit in reality, measured against OpenStreetMap, aerial imagery from PDOK and the 3D BAG from TU Delft. You drive around in 77 vehicle models, work ten jobs with promotion, and this first version runs entirely offline with no ads.

What it costs, and where to get it

€ 4,99 one-off, including VAT

One price for the game: no trial, no ads and no subscription.

The game is not in the stores yet. It is finished and being tested, and the links will appear here as soon as it is on the App Store and Google Play. Want to hear when that happens? Send a line to helpdesk@urbangamez.com — that address is not used for anything else.

Why 18+

Because there is a casino in it. There is also fighting, shooting and fleeing in the game, but it is the roulette, the blackjack table and the slot machine that push the rating to 18 — simulated gambling, with play money. Nothing you win in the casino can be exchanged for real money. Those two sentences belong together; the first without the second gives the wrong picture.

The images

Three images are here loose, at full resolution, ready to use. All eight are in the zip at the bottom. The images carry a caption baked into the picture, which is why there is a Dutch and an English set.

What you see below is the same picture as the one you download, only scaled down: the same crop, 2868 × 1613 instead of the width of your screen. Nothing is on the downloaded file that you cannot see here.

Screenshot from the game: the Prinsengracht seen from above, with two houseboats, brick quays and the red roofs of the Jordaan. The caption on the image reads: Not a canal. The Prinsengracht.

Screenshot from the game: the same city at night, with a car’s headlight beam across the quay and one burning street lamp. Caption on the image: Night on the canal. Your headlights lay their beam across the quay.
The same city in the dark: the headlights lay a visible beam across the quay. Full resolution: English caption, 2868 × 1613, JPEG, 0.70 MB · Dutch caption, 0.70 MB.
Screenshot from the game: the map of the whole inner city with the canals, street names, a legend and coloured dots for the places where work can be found. Caption on the image: The whole inner city on one map. Your work is on it as dots.

The icon and the whole kit

The app icon is 1024 × 1024, PNG, 0.74 MB. It is full-bleed and opaque: there is no transparent margin around it, so do not drop it on a coloured background expecting it to be cut out.

The zip holds all eight images at 2868 × 1613, the icon, the 1024 × 500 Google Play feature graphic, a text file with the credit line and a longer version of this page.

Want the images as lossless PNG, on a different crop, or of one particular street or building — your own newsroom’s surroundings, for instance? Mail the address to helpdesk@urbangamez.com and it will be there the same day.

The credit that goes with the images

This applies to the images and to the map data, not to the text above: that you may reuse without any credit. If you use an image, these three lines belong with it. They are also inside the game and in BRONVERMELDING.txt in the zip:

  • Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (ODbL).
  • Building heights from the 3D BAG, Delft University of Technology, CC BY 4.0.
  • Aerial imagery by PDOK (Publieke Dienstverlening Op de Kaart).

The images and the icon themselves belong to Urban Gamez. You may use them in an article, a video or a broadcast about this game; do not resell them and do not place them in an advertisement for something else. Where everything comes from exactly is on the Credits and licences page.

Where to reach us

helpdesk@urbangamez.com — that is the only address, and it is read. There is one person behind it, not a press office: you will get a reply, but not always the same day. If you would rather call, the number is in the signature of the press mail, or ask for it at that same address.
